The North Junction Signal Box contains not only the shop, cafe and toilets but also has a number of internal exhibits, such as an audio visual room where films can be seen either on a large screen TV or a projection screen. This room also house several working signalling lever frames, one of which is connected to the operating model railway layout and enables visitors to operate the signals and control the movement of the train. Beyond this room lies the viewing room which houses several operating American outline HO layouts which are operated by members of the Calder Northern Group of the National Model Railroad Association British Region. There is also a large picture window giving a view of the northern end of Crewe station with the tracks passing within a few metres either side of you. Upstairs you can visit the former control room (operated on selected days) where it remains in the condition it was when closed in 1985.
