Visiting The Heritage Centre

+ When is the Heritage Centre open?

We're open every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday from April to October. We are alos open on selected days for Special Events from November to March, please visit our events page for more information.

+ Can I leave the Heritage Centre and come back?

You are free to come and go as you please, remember to keep hold of your admission ticket if you are planning on coming back in.

+ Does the Heritage Centre allow dogs?

Not only are dogs welcome, they can also enter the museum free of charge. We also have a number of watering stations located around the museum to help you keep them hydrated. We do ask that dogs are kept on a lead whilst in the museum and are comfortable with younger children.

+ Dose the Heritage Centre accept card payments?

Our Ticket Office, Cafe and Gift Shop all accept Visa, Master Card, Maestro, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

+ Can we bring our own food and drink?

You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink, we have a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating for you to enjoy your lunch or a snack. We also have our own cafe serving hot and cold food.

+ Can I smoke at the Heritage Centre?

The Heritage Centre is a smoke free museum, because of this smoking is only permitted within the designated smoking areas which are signposted within the grounds and marked on the museum map.

+ Do I need to register to bring my car to an Off The Rails event?

No, Off The Rails is an open event for car enthusiasts, there is no need to register before the event in order to bring your classic car. All you need to do is turn up on the day.

Travel & Parking

+ Travelling By Car

We’re only a 10 minute drive from M6 Junction 16, follow the signs for Crewe, once you reach the town simply follow the brown ‘Heritage Centre’ and ‘Railway Age’ signs. Parking is free for visitors to the Heritage Centre. Sat Nav Postcode: CW1 2DB

+ Travelling By Train

Our closest railway station is Crewe, which is approximately a 1KM or ten minute walk away from the Heritage Centre. Leave the station via the Nantwich Road exit, turn left towards the Royal Hotel and cross at the pedestrian crossing. Continue along this road until you come to the ‘Cheshire Inn’ public house. Turn right and walk down Mill Street. Once you have passed under the bridge turn right at the roundabout and continue along Vernon Way until you see our sign.

+ Travelling By Bus

Our closest bus station is Crewe Town Centre, which is approximately a 1KM or ten minute walk away from the Heritage Centre. Once you have alighted the bus turn right and walk down the staircase and turn right heading towards the main road. At the junction turn left and head towards Barclays Bank, Once you reach the bank turn right onto Market Street and continue down the road and over the bridge until you reach a set of traffic lights. At the lights turn left onto Oak Street and walk towards the roundabout passing straight over, continue along Vernon Way and past the supermarket until you see our sign.

+ Does the Heritage Centre have a car park?

Yes, the heritage centre has two separate car parks that can be found at the entrance to the museum, parking is free for all Heritage Centre visitors. Additional Pay & Display parking is available less than 100 metres away on Oak Street.

+ Do I have to pay for parking?

Nope, unlike most attractions we don't believe in charging you for parking. That is why both of our car parks are completely free of charge to use when you visit the museum.

+ Does the Heritage Centre have cycle parking?

We have dedicated cycle parking at the entrance to the museum, we're located on route 451 of the national cycle network.

 

The Heritage Centre’s Online Shop

+ What methods of payment do you accept online?

Our website accepts all major credit and debit cards, in addition to this you are also able to checkout using PayPal and Apple Pay on supported iOS devices.

+ My order has arrived incomplete or in multiple packages.

In order to help us keep up with demand some of the products on our Online Shop are manufactured and shipped by third party organisations. This sometimes means that items from your order will be shipped separately and arrive at different times.
